Membership is opened to anyone who falls into one of the following categories.

Members or past members of the Barbados Workers’ Union.
    

Relatives of members of the Barbados Workers’ Union.
    

Relatives of present members of the BWU Co-operative Credit Union.
   

Any bona-fide former member of the BWU whose membership lapses as a result of loss of employment or due to retirement.

Benefits of Membership

Tax concessions

Members are eligible to claim a tax benefit on a maximum of $3,000.00 per calendar year.   Members who make a withdrawal within two years following the year in which a tax benefit was obtained are required to redeposit same amount and pay the applicable tax.

Insurance

Members shares and loans are insured through the Credit Union league with the Mutual Benefits Plan.

When you become a member, you automatically qualify for these benefits. Therefore, financial assistance is provided for you or your beneficiaries, in the event of disability or death.

Just visit our office located at the Corner of Fairchild & Nelson Streets, Bridgetown, and complete one of our application forms. You can also join on-line or by completing the downloadable membership application form and submitting it. We'll take care of you from there.
